Start your day with a visit to Babylonstoren, one of the Cape's most celebrated estates, where centuries-old gardens, orchards and vineyards come together on a single, sprawling estate. From there, continue to a neighbouring estate known for its bold, structured reds, set against a backdrop of mountains on every side. Prefer to skip Babylonstoren and focus your morning on wines? The choice is yours. 

As the morning draws on, the road brings you into Franschhoek itself, a small village with a distinctly French history and a reputation as one of South Africa’s food and wine capitals. Settle in for a wine tasting at a boutique estate right in the heart of the village, or spend the time exploring galleries, boutique stores, cafés and oak-lined streets, all on foot and at your own pace.

A casual and relaxed lunch follows in the village. Whether that means wood-fired pizza, a plate from the local microbrewery, or something more bistro-style, your guide will point you toward whatever suits your mood.

The day closes with an afternoon wine tasting on the quieter outskirts of Franschhoek, before looping back into the village. The drive is a reward in itself, skirting the edge of the Berg River Dam, with sweeping views back across the valley that rank among the prettiest in the Cape Winelands.
