You’ll start the day on Table Mountain, skipping the queue and heading straight to the summit via cable car. Your guide will find a quiet spot for a gourmet coffee and locally made pastry or rusk, best enjoyed with the city stretched out below you.

Then it’s onto Cape Town’s CBD for a walking tour. In Bo Kaap, you’ll wander streets lined with brightly coloured houses and steeped in the heritage of Cape Malay communities. A few blocks away, District Six tells a powerful story of loss and remembrance. Here, your guide will unpack the legacies of Apartheid urban planning and the communities that shaped, and were shaped by, this part of the city.

We’ll stop at Fatima’s, a small West African eatery, for lunch. Fatima’s isn’t open on Sundays, but our little black book has more than a few excellent alternatives should your tour fall on this day. Your guide will lead you through historical landmarks and small businesses that reflect the spirit of Cape Town: complex, multicultural, and constantly evolving. Along the way, we’ll pause at our favourite independent bookstore, where your guide can provide recommendations tailored to your interests.
